From frustration to Fietsplaat
It started with a simple frustration: sitting still on an indoor trainer for hours feels unnatural. Your back protests, your joints complain, and the fun disappears after an hour. There had to be something better.
That 'something better' became the Fietsplaat — a rocker plate that simulates the natural side-to-side movement of outdoor cycling. Handmade in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, for every indoor trainer on the market.
Passion for perfection
In December 2023, it started with a wooden board, some rubber dampers, and an idea. The first prototype was rough, but it immediately proved the concept: indoor cycling can be more comfortable. The first test ride was a revelation — after years of static training, this felt like a breakthrough.
What followed were months of iteration. Every detail was optimized: the angle of movement, the type of dampening, the fit per trainer. We drew, milled, tested, and started over. Again and again. From rough wooden boards to sleek finished products with CNC precision.
Today we produce rocker plates for more than 21 trainer models, all custom-made and hand-assembled in our workshop in Nijmegen. Every rocker plate that leaves our door has been in our hands.
From idea to product
The idea
Frustration with static indoor cycling leads to the first experiment: a wooden board with rubber dampers.
First prototypes
Multiple iterations with different materials, dampening types and dimensions. The first fit for the Tacx trainer is tested.
First production model
The black finish is chosen. The first model that not only works well, but also looks great.
CNC production
Switch to CNC milling for millimeter precision. Each trainer model gets its own mold and custom fit.
Fietsplaat becomes a brand
Logo, website and packaging. The first customers receive their rocker plate. Fietsplaat.nl goes live.
Product line grows
From 1 model to 21 — for Tacx, Wahoo, Elite, Zwift and more. Each plate custom-made.
Serial production
The workshop expands. Inventory management, packaging lines and quality control are set up.
Going international
Fietsplaat presents at trade shows and expands to the international market with Cycleplate.com.
